For several years running the Christmas Campaign for Food Standards Scotland was produced by Edinburgh agency The Union, with the digital aspects being handled at Whitespace.
With lead time reduced due to the campaign being passed to the team at the 11th hour, we needed to come up with a solution that could be executed in the time required, and visually mirror the ad campaign The Union created.
The campaign consisted of two hero visuals of food poisoning victims posing rather unflatteringly with a toilet in a snow globe. The best way of raising awareness for the FSS campaign was an easy to use Instagram filter recreating the posters.
The filter begins with a random selection of Christmas Dinner mistakes which the user randomly picks from by nodding. They then have a 50/50 chance of being in either pose.
The skin tone changes based on sampling the users forehead to allow everyone to take part.
File size was kept low by using a base model and adding mocap data for each “result.”
